This initiative aims to provide a unique and supportive environment in which women with little or no previous technical experience can learn some of the skills necessary to begin a career in technology.
We recognize the significant lack of gender diversity in the IT industry, and we believe that encouraging capable, talented women into technical roles can bring enormous benefits, both to the women themselves, and also to the teams and companies they end up working with. By introducing more women into this talent pool, we hope to increase diversity in the technology teams.
Our courses provide beginner level training which aim to give you the skills necessary to apply for entry level jobs.
By the end of one of our courses you will be equipped with the technical skills you need to embark on a number of different routes into the industry. We hope you will leave the training inspired and empowered, and in a strong position to apply for permanent roles should you wish to.

What is a Software Developer?
A software developer creates computer software to solve real world problems. They work as part of a team of people with various different areas of expertise, working closely together to bring a project to life and deliver a high quality software product.
At any tech company, technology underpins everything done. The software development teams work on a huge range of products used by millions of customers every day, to the software used by the call centre staff, to the various websites used by customers for finding the latest posts to watch or even buying remote controls.
If you do choose to pursue a career in software development you’ll be part of a growing industry, with good earning potential and plenty of opportunities to fulfil your ambitions.
Am I too old to become a software developer?
The short answer is No! We would actively encourage older women to apply for one of our courses. Whether you are a returner to work, a career changer or just want to start afresh, this course is for you. We will give you all the support you need to be as successful as you can be.
What skills do I need?
Communication
Forget the old stereotype of isolated lone coders hacking away in the dark – modern software development is all about teamwork. You’ll need to be comfortable talking tech with other Developers, as well as with non-technical team members and stakeholders. As part of a team of equals (we don’t have hierarchies within our teams), you’ll be part of key decision making discussions, and you’ll need to be comfortable getting your opinion heard and listening to the opinions of others.
Analytical and logical thinking
You’ll need to be able to translate what you want to achieve into logical commands that the computer can interpret. However, this doesn’t mean that you need to have been top in your maths class or amazing at spreadsheets. If you can do a sudoku, that’s about all the maths you really need to be a software developer!
Creativity
As a developer, you’ll be armed with the tools to create innovative and exciting products. If you get a kick out of coming up with original ideas and turning them into a reality, then software development could be for you.
Self Motivated
When you’re coming up with new ways to do things, you’ll need to enjoy figuring out how! You may also find yourself needing to learn new software languages and technologies for different projects. Training courses will form a part of your learning on the job, but you’ll also be constantly teaching and learning from your peers. “
